Synchronized Swimming
Synchronized Swimming is an Olympic sport that combines endurance, choreography and swimming. The idea behind synchronized swimming is for the swimmer to look effortless and graceful while performing challenging routines, in a synchronized style with other swimmers.  It is combination of swimming, diving, gymnastics, and dance.

It is always a plus if you are a good swimmer, but many synchronized swimmers start out slowly and work their way up to being very good swimmers.  All you need is a love of the water, love of music and a healthy team spirit.

Programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming.  More information on this organization and location of clubs can be found at http://www.usms.org

Bozeman StingRays
The Bozeman StingRays are a competitive and recreational synchronized swimming club.  Many of our swimmers compete nationally.  We meet at the Swim Center between two and four times a week, for an hour to an hour and a half each time, right after school, starting at 4:15 p.m. The first half of the practice sessions begin with a workout lap swim and the other half of our practice sessions focus on individual figures or routines. The routines are choreographed to music and all the figures that are learned during the year are incorporated into it.   Swimmers can swim in teams, trios, duets or solos.  The swimmers are divided into three main groups according to their abilities: novice, intermediate and age group. There is at least one coach for each group.

Our season begins in September and finishes up in April or May.  We know it is a long season, but synchronized swimming takes a lot of practice.   But most of all, synchronized swimming is extremely rewarding and lots of fun.  “Synchro” is not only a fun sport, but it also increases a person’s lung capacity and flexibility.  What a great way to stay healthy!
